These instructions must be followed in the order presented to avoid mismatched databases between master and satellite users.

• There is no additional fee to upgrade to equal features.
• Read all of these instructions first!
• The original software does not need to be uninstalled. No changes were made to the windows/system folder and no changes were made to the Registry. The files may be deleted after the upgrade has been successfully completed.
   
• Satellite user:

• All updates must be imported
• Create and send a final export to the Master database user.
• Select File | Compact | Backup | Copy from the Main menu.
• Compact and create a backup of your database.

• Master Database user: 

• Import the final export(s) from satellite users BEFORE proceeding.
• Select File | Compact | Backup | Copy from the Main menu.
• Compact and create a backup of your database.

• Download the beta software ~(50M) to your pc
• Run the downloaded installation program. The software will be installed in c:\Program Files\Ref'r'Ranger.
• Start the new Ref'r'Ranger Software.
• Register the software. Enter your name and master code when the program opens and follow the instructions. You must be online to complete your registration.
• Your old database should open. You will see a message that new fields are being added. That's why you must have a backup before proceeding. If it does not open use File | Open to locate it.
• Select File | Compact/Copy/Compact Database. You will be asked to convert the database to the new format. This changes the format from Access 2.5 to Access 2000. Proceed with the conversion. Your old database will again be backed up. However, this copy is AFTER the new software modified it.
  This backup cannot be opened using the old software.
• The conversion is complete. You should find all features from the original software still there as well as many new ones. This version runs most comfortably when your screen resolution is at least 1024x768. Windows have been resized to work in a minimum 800x600 format rather than 640x480. If you have your resolution set to 640x480 you will not be able to see the entire window content without scrolling.

• 1099 Editor - is similar to the original. The old system allowed you to select the database for analysis (and a second one). The new system uses the open database for analysis and allows you to select a second. Also, rather than select the leagues to be included after the 1099 module opens, you select the Leagues to include in the 1099's from the League Selection lists already created using the main program. If you don't know what those are send us an email (help@offserv.com) and we'll explain how to use them. You do NOT need to convert an old database to use the new 1099 Editor.

Notes just for the System Administrator:

• DO NOT give your Registration Name and Password to satellite users - they must have their own.
• Create each user from the Import/Export Editor Configure User option and then review your registrations on the website to create codes for each. You can email each user from the web page with his/her registration code. Complete Instructions are available on the registration web page accessed fro the Configure User window in the Import/Export Editor.
• Software updates are automated much like Microsoft's Windows updates. The process starts from the Main Menu Web | Update Ref'r'Ranger command. The install you download is usually current, but we may make changes anytime.
